Jessica Doll For The Win!

You know that “I can’t laugh right now” kind of laugh that happens when you’re in a serious work meeting, or in the middle of church, or (for yours truly) when your teething baby has finally fallen asleep on you? It starts out as a slight chuckle, and the harder you try to keep it in, the harder you end up laughing? This happened to me just a bit ago. I was scrolling through Instagram while my son slept on me all nice and cuddly and warm, and I came across Jessica Dolls. Two things caught my eye immediately. The first was that these dolls all had funny different expressions on. And by different, I mean some looked shocked, some looked like they were laughing, some were crying; but all of the dolls were still so cute. The second (and main thing) that caught my eye, was how hilarious the messages were next to each doll. Cue my barely constrained laughter resulting in silent body shakes and tears streaming down my face. Why? Because Grace, the owner and maker of these hand made dolls just gets me. She gets all moms, really. She tells it like it is, in an awesome and hilarious way and I need more of this in my life.

So I ordered a mermaid doll for Emily and waited for the perfect time to give it to her. Mind you, she’s the first grand child on both my side of the family and my husband’s, so she has a few dolls; I wanted to make sure I could watch her reaction with this one. And boy was it worth it. I could barely get the poor doll out of the envelope before she was asking “How bout me, Mama? How bout me?” Yes child, it IS for you; I can assure you that I did not buy myself a doll with these sweet interchangeable expressions (though I wish I did have one when I was little!). She marveled at the doll and introduced her to her baby brother and our bed and bathroom (she has some pretty sweet manners). When I showed her how she could take the eyes and mouth off (to later add on different expressions) she was literally shrieking and laughing at how funny this was. She thought this was just truly amazing. Like, pretty much the best thing she had ever seen.

So yeah, we are a huge fan of our Jessica Doll at our house. She is so entertained by the various expressions her doll can make, she understands the different expressions. Her favorite is flipping the smile upside down so the doll is sad, And quickly flipping it back up because she can “make her happy again”. So cute. You can order your doll here and be prepared for your child to be entertained for a nice long time! About Me
Nicole Benedum has been a stay at home mom for the past 3 years. Before she took on this glorious (and sometimes not so glorious) role of "All Things Motherhood", she was a Human Resources Generalist. Her days were spent dealing with legal compliance, benefits, leave of absences and everything Human Resources related. Now her days are spent breastfeeding, changing diapers, conquering potty training, tantrums and sleepless nights. She has two kiddos; a 2 year old toddler named Emily, and a baby boy named Owen. She met her husband, Sam, in college when they were both on the swim team, and they have been together ever since. She is a huge breastfeeding advocate, gentle/crunchy parent (for the most part) and a former student athlete (water polo and swimming, woot woot!) both in high school and in college. At some point in the future she has dreams of going back to the gym and/or pool. For now she shall continue counting breastfeeding and holding a 35 pound toddler and 15 pound baby as her workouts.
