Dinosaur & Volcano Birthday Party!

This past Saturday we threw a Dinosaur and Volcano 3rd birthday party for my daughter. We really took into account what she wanted “Sophia the 1st party?”: “No!”. “Little Einsteins Party?”: “Maybe.” Hmn… and then inspiration struck as she belted out a dinosaur and volcano song out at the top of her lungs. “How about a dinosaur and volcano party?” To which we heard a resounding and very enthusiastic “Yes peas!!!” So I wanted to share the details from her party.

We got this awesome Dinosaur and Volcano birthday cake from Pin Up Cakes and could not have been happier with how it came out. We opted for chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream frosting and it was amazzzzzzing. Also, the volcano was a Rice Krispie Treat inside! Which I might or might now have eaten for breakfast the next day! #blameitonbreastfeeding

I also just had to get some sweet dinosaur cookies which I ordered from Maple Street Bakery, who also happens to be a friend of mine from high school, and we just love how they turned out. They were tasty, cute and all of the kids loved running around our house and backyard playing with them. Win win!

I didn’t really know where to get dinosaur and volcano decorations, and was honestly debating on just picking up some dinosaur toys at Target and painting them gold (but then reality kicked in and the idea of trying to do a craft like that while taking care of our 3 year old daughter and 8 month old son really did not seem like the greatest idea I have ever had. Haha. So after a quick Google search I got some super cute Oriental Trading Company Dinosaur stuff and some adorable Party City Dinosaur Stuff too. Quick, easy and inexpensive is my cup of tea!

I got Emily’s adorable dinosaur dress from Etsy, the shop is super cute and called AmandaArcher, and we just loved her dress. It was warm (perfect for a December birthday) and had the CUTEST bow in the back of the dress. Also, the Etsy shop owner sent a complimentary set of two bows which matched the dress (Emily refused to wear those for some reason, but has since asked if she can wear them after the party is done, go figure haha).

So we also got a jungle themed bouncer (closest one we could find to dinosaur related things? haha) and ordered a TON of pizza from Papa Johns. In my humble opinion, I think everyone had a blast. Overall, it was a lot of fun and I think my daughter really loved her party theme, so I wanted to share 🙂

About Me
Nicole Benedum has been a stay at home mom for the past 3 years. Before she took on this glorious (and sometimes not so glorious) role of "All Things Motherhood", she was a Human Resources Generalist. Her days were spent dealing with legal compliance, benefits, leave of absences and everything Human Resources related. Now her days are spent breastfeeding, changing diapers, conquering potty training, tantrums and sleepless nights. She has two kiddos; a 2 year old toddler named Emily, and a baby boy named Owen. She met her husband, Sam, in college when they were both on the swim team, and they have been together ever since. She is a huge breastfeeding advocate, gentle/crunchy parent (for the most part) and a former student athlete (water polo and swimming, woot woot!) both in high school and in college. At some point in the future she has dreams of going back to the gym and/or pool. For now she shall continue counting breastfeeding and holding a 35 pound toddler and 15 pound baby as her workouts.
